UPDATED REVIEW: I am halfway through my lease. Jennifer and Jessica of the staff are very nice, helpful people. On my particular street, Ashmere, there have been no incidents or vandalisms that I'm aware of. The people here are friendly for the most part. There is a considerable smell of dog poop that sticks in the air around certain points of the complex, like the pathways in between buildings. Unfortunately, the wall AC does not push air through the entire apartment, despite the claim that the wall vents will carry it. If the sun hits your apartment on its west side at mid day or after, prepare to come home to a scorching hot room. The floors are definitely thin as well, as we can hear the sub of the people below us, and they heard ours as well a few times. When we moved in, everything in the place worked just fine, and still does. There is a pool, workout room, and clubhouse that are available for all residents to use, as well as 24 hour laundry rooms. The laundry unfortunately costs $5 just to get the little card, and you don't get that $5 back in laundry credit. Very cheap move, sad to say. Another disappointing fact is that one load of laundry costs $3.25 to wash and dry. Grossmont Center Mall is no-joke right down the street, 5 to 7 minutes away. I will review again in another couple of months, primarily focusing on my interactions with the management more. Hopefully all goes well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that "couple of months" is here. I updated a few spots above in the old review as well. So in our 6 months here, the pool tables continue to get worse and worse in the clubhouse, the hot tub area is often times dirty from the tree that hovers above it. One might wonder why they don't cut a few of the overhanging branches off. . . The little light that turns at night in the hot tub does not and has not ever worked, from what I've seen. It would be a welcome addition for sure. We've had a few things get crappy on us in the apartment, like the AC and garbage disposal. The GD was replaced the same day we called, which was a Saturday, so that was nice. I mainly deal with the manager, Jen, whenever I talk to the staff. She's always helpful and friendly and seems like a pretty good manager, although you gotta wonder sometimes. . .does an apartment complex manager live on their own premises? And if not, shouldn't that be a red flag? As in, wouldn't they save money by living there? (discounts) lol, suffice to say, it's interesting that none of the staff pride themselves on living there as well. Keep that in mind.
